Here's How to get a Divorce in Sacramento

Ensure you or your spouse have lived in California for at least six months and in Sacramento County for at least three months before filing for divorce. 

Residency Requirement 

Prepare and file a divorce petition with the Sacramento County Superior Court, specifying the grounds for divorce  

File Petition 

Serve the divorce papers to your spouse in a legally acceptable way, or your spouse can voluntarily accept service. 

Serve Papers 

Your spouse must respond to the petition within 30 days, either contesting or agreeing to the divorce terms.
