Short Story: The Truth About TEACHER UNIONS ARE THE REAL DARK MONEY PLAYERS IN SCHOOL BOARD RACES

Edu Place

My dad served on the state board of education in the tiny town where I grew up for more than a decade.

I can tell you firsthand that there have always been difficult problems in my community,

such as teacher salaries, property taxes, where financing goes, curricular issues, and others. In school board contests,

where expenditure is normally low, even a few hundred dollars raised can go a long way.

Indeed, 75 percent of the candidates who received money from the Michigan union in 2020 won their campaigns

including a clean sweep of all four seats in the Detroit suburbs of Plymouth-Canton.

The union obviously has so much money that it can be able to spend $500 on the a start writing candidate in McBain, Michigan's 8th city.
