It’s been a while since I’ve used Google Fi for over a year and have found that it is the best solution to remaining connected when traveling. Indeed, the people I know who frequently travel are awed by Google Fi. There’s nothing better when you want to be connected while traveling. Here’s the information you must be aware of.
3 Plans of Google Fi’s Google Fi Plans
Google Fi offers three main plans with discounts for multiple lines. The plans all include unlimited calls and text, but details change afterward.
Google Fi’s Flexible Plan costs $20 per month. Data used is charged at $10/GB. Google also offers “Bill Protection” which is $20 per month. Data used after 6GB is charged at $10/GB. The cost of international texting and calling while on vacation is included.
The Simply Unlimited plan is $60 per month. Unlimited data is included in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. It does not contain data while on international travel. It does not allow for texting and calling outside of the U.S. or Canada.
The Unlimited Plus plan is a great option because it includes almost every feature that frequent travelers would need. Subscribers can get unlimited data in the United States, as well as in more than 200+ countries while they travel for $70 per month. Hotspot tethering for mobile devices is available. Calling more than 50 destinations is also available.
After a certain usage limit, all plans throttle data use. This starts at 22GB for Simply Unlimited or Unlimited Plus, and 15GB for the Flexible plan. The Unlimited Plus plan is the best value for most people, as it includes all the inclusions.

You can make use of your phone in more than 200 countries. International use:

You can simply pause your service for free for up to three months! If you decide to stop your service, you will not be charged for the time your service is suspended and you’ll retain your number, but you won’t be able to make calls, send text messages, or access data. Google One benefits will also remain. Be aware of this: Google advises that repeatedly stopping the service could be a violation of its terms of usage (not certain how to define that).

There’s no extra cost, but Fi charges for international calls. The good thing is calling international numbers with Google Fi is ridiculously cheap. In the majority of instances, I’ve seen the cost of calls to be $0.01 or $0.02 per minute. If you own an eSim-enabled phone, getting it up and running with Google Fi is easy. Google Fi is fully eSim compatible. Simply sign to sign up for Google Fi and select your phone model when you are asked. Onboarding will walk you through all the necessary steps to begin the process within a matter of minutes. It took me approximately 15 minutes to activate my service for my iPhone. If you don’t own an eSim-compatible device or tablet, you are able to purchase a physical SIM on Amazon.

Google Fi takes your security while on the move seriously. Apart from the basic functions like blocking unwanted calls and blocking specific numbers, Google Fi also comes with an inbuilt VPN. This means you’ll be able to access streaming, browsing, and downloading via secure, encrypted connections via wifi or cell phone. My experience has shown that Google’s VPN is far superior to alternatives. It also displays a location within the U.S. wherever you are anywhere in the world, and permits users to watch Netflix and other websites as if they were actually in the U.S.
Things to remember
Although Google Fi offers the best service for international use, however, it is important to remember that the service has to be activated within the United States (not including territories). After activating your service, you’ll be allowed to utilize your phone throughout the globe without having to update the settings.
5G is accessible within the United States but hasn’t rolled out to all countries. In many countries, you’ll have LTE/4G. 5G services are (as of January 2022) available in Austria, Bahrain, Canada, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Thailand.
Now, the question is DOES GOOGLE FI WORK IN ITALY? So, I don’t think so, I don’t think Google FI works in Italy, but Maybe it works in coming near future.
